Tony was born in Newark NJ on the 85th anniversary of the bloodiest day in American History, the Battle Of Antietam. His mother’s family goes back over 300 years to the Dutch in NJ, and the English in Maryland; his father’s family arrived from Italy in 1914.

He graduated from Lyndon State College in Vermont with a BA in History and a minor in English. Tony began his teaching career shortly thereafter, and in 1982 he earned a Master’s degree from Georgian Court College in Curriculum and Supervision. He has spent 21 of 32 years in education teaching History and has recently retired from the profession. He has two children whom he is very proud of, Darcy and Anthony Wayne.

Tony has been an avid Civil War Reenactor since 1982, and has portrayed Gen. Grant for "Classic Images," the History Channel, and the BBC. Since his retirement, he has been involved in producing "living histories" for schools and community groups. Tony has also been recognized as the "Jackson Township Teacher of the Year," and as a "Lyndon State Distinguished Alumni."

He currently resides in Orleans, VT. His heroes are his Father (a vet of 101st Airborne, severely wounded after D-day) Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Ulysses S. Grant, Gen. George Marshall (his grandmother’s 1st cousin) and Edward R. Murrow.
